Behind the Scenes: How I Help Clients Sound Like Themselves Again
Sometimes, the biggest compliment I receive from a client is five words:
“This finally feels like me.”
That’s when I know I’ve done my job not as a proofreader, but as a writing partner who listens.
I recently helped a woman coach in her 50s refine her About page. It was grammatically correct; it said the right things, but it didn’t sound like her. It felt stiff. Formal. A little distant.

A kind word from a recent client and why I love this work.
So we sat with one question: What do you want people to feel when they read this?
From there, we reworked the wording to reflect her warmth, wisdom, and directness. We took out the fluff and added clarity. She wanted people to feel inspired, not sold to, and we made that happen.
