I Didn’t Know I Was Building a Signature Scent… Until I Was

How I Started Layering My Scent Without Expensive Perfume

I went to Dollar Tree.

Actually… let me tell the truth—I went to two.

Because I live right in the middle of both—and right now… I’m not choosing sides. 😂

But what I didn’t realize while I was picking up body creams, sprays, and powders was this:

I wasn’t just shopping.

I was layering.
I was learning.

I was building something without even trying to name it yet.

A signature.

At this stage in life, we talk a lot about how we want to look.

But we don’t always talk about how we want to feel.

Or even more… how we want to linger.

Because scent does that.

It lingers.

It introduces you before you speak and stays behind after you leave.

And somewhere between a creamy cashmere lotion, a Brazilian body butter, and a soft floral mist…

I realized something: I don’t need expensive perfume to smell like myself.

What I’ve learned is this:

It’s not about one product.

It’s about layering.

A clean base. A warm cream. A soft mist. A finishing touch.

That’s where the magic is.

Some days, I want to feel soft and wrapped in comfort.

Some days, I want to feel polished—even if I’m just sitting at home writing.

And some days…

I want to step out and feel like I made an entrance without ever raising my voice.

And now?

I have combinations for all of it.

Not complicated.

Not expensive.

Just intentional.

There’s something powerful about discovering new rituals at this age.

Not because we have to.

But because we finally get to choose what feels good.

What feels like us.

So no…

I didn’t just go to Dollar Tree.

I started building a scent story.

And the best part?

It’s still unfolding.
